Vinyl Selling FAQ (UK)
If you’re considering selling a vinyl collection, the questions below cover the most common things sellers ask us — from collection size and genres to cash sales and the reseller partnership option.
How many records do you need to buy a collection?
We work with collections of 50 records or more. Smaller quantities usually aren’t viable once travel, grading and handling time are taken into account.
What genres do you buy?
Our core focus is jungle, hardcore and early rave. That said, collections outside these genres are also considered where quality, condition and volume are strong. If you’re unsure, it’s always worth getting in touch with a rough overview.
Do you buy collections anywhere in the UK?
Yes. We travel nationwide to inspect and collect qualifying collections in person.
We don’t buy large collections by post — condition matters, and records need to be assessed properly.
How does the cash sale work?
We visit you, inspect the records, agree a price, and pay cash on collection. This option suits sellers who want a fast, straightforward outcome with no ongoing involvement.
How does the reseller partnership work?
Instead of selling outright, we agree a cash advance, then handle the resale process on your behalf.
Records are cleaned, graded, listed and sold across multiple channels, including Discogs, the Vinyl Junkie UK website, and directly to serious collectors who visit in person.
Once records sell, profits are split 50/50 (after Discogs and PayPal fees), with monthly statements and payments.
Which option makes more money?
In most cases, a reseller partnership will generate a higher overall return than a straight cash sale — but it takes longer.
A cash sale is faster and simpler. The right option depends on your priorities.
How long does it take for records to sell?
Collections sell in stages. Scarcer and more desirable titles usually go first, followed by solid mid-range records over time as listings circulate.
What happens to records that don’t sell?
Any remaining lower-value records can either be:
- Returned to the original owner, or
- Bundled into job lots and sold on eBay
This is agreed transparently in advance.
Is the reseller partnership a new service?
No. Vinyl Junkie UK has already handled 30+ collections through the reseller programme, ranging from smaller DJ libraries to large archive-level collections.
